It all started when our generous friends called up and said that they were coming to pick us up in a Limo with little notice… a group of about 10 of us headed down to a great sushi restaurant called NOBU in downtown San Diego and we had a great dinner and after party at The Hard Rock Cafe dance club nearby… (VIP treatment rules) …with more little notice our friends invited us on their private jet out of Palomar Airport in Carlsbad, CA to bring ourselves and my guitar on a 4 day luxurious trip to San Francisco at the Clift Hotel for an extended weekend getaway… with little time to decide…we happily accepted.

We packed fast and drove right up to the the private 15 person plane where a valet guy helped us with our bags took our car and off we went!

About 2 hours later we were in our luxury suite at the Clift Hotel in San Francisco, CA. Our generous friends treated us to clubs Ruby Sky (which had amazing trapeze artists and performers right above the dance floor! It was like watching Cirque de Solei right above us while we sipped champagne and got our groove on)…

We went to another club called Sliders that had great music and a great scene…

One night we went to this movie theatre built by Robert Redford called Kabuki which was amazing!!! We sat in lazy boys and ordered from the full bar while we watched Juno…my new favorite movie!!! I highly recommend it.

New Years was a blast at the Clift Hotel and look out for a ton of pics coming your way from all of my beautiful friends!!!

I forgot to mention the acoustic guitar show I put on in our living room suite with champagne beer Grey Goose room service…pretty much everything you could ask for or dream up…that weekend would be a tough one to top…I love private parties!!!

I’m going to have to do these more often…

That’s the short version of a great weekend… and now, today, it’s my Birthday!!! woo hoo! I can’t believe it!

If you wanna give me a present you can buy my new book called The Painted Zebra that just came out at authorhouse.com or barnesandnoble.com (I dedicated it to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who has a birthday coming up to so if you order it now you can enjoy reading it to a loved little one on his birthday for me… I’m pretty proud of the message it sends and if you like Dr. Suess and Shel Silverstein I think you’ll really like The Painted Zebra) you can preview it at williechambers.com just click the star that says “Writing”

or do me a small quick birthday favor and tell one of your friends to buy their favorite Windsor song off of our album Melting Highway in the iTunes Music Store…simply search Windsor Melting Highway and most people like our song Miss You the best! thanks so much for your support and for checking in!

This is a great start to a great 2008!!!
Hope to hear from you all soon!

Besides Willie’s new idea to invent the doggy treadmill Willie & his good friend Tyler hung out and always seem to come up with some new crazy ideas.

3 ways to change the games of 3 major sports forever…

1)Football “The Midget Toss”

When you’re on the 2 yard line, bring in the midget, hand him the ball and have two giant players throw him over the defensive line into the endzone for a touch down everytime.

A midget could also be thrown 4 yards every down for an automatic first down every play and also be thrown straight up in the air to defend field-goal tries and punts.

2)Hockey “The Sumo Goalie”

Sign a huge “sumo wrestler” goalie to lay infront of the goal for the entire game ensuring a shut-out. It might not ensure a win but with a sure shut-out you should be able to win with 1 goal.

3)Soccer “The Hair-Gel Goal”

Before the game get a fast player with a thick head of hair. Use a huge amount of stiff hair gel to form a soccerball holder on the top of that player’s head. Straight from the kick off pass the ball back to your own goalie. Have the goalie put the ball on top of the player’s head inside the hair and gel soccerball holder. Have that player run the length of the field across the goal line straight into the net. You can use the rest of the team as blockers if necessary. This should ensure a goal everytime your goalie puts it on the top of the players head and should change the sport of soccer forever.

Thanks for checking in.

Thanksgiving was a good time. I went to Arizona to visit my wife’s family. We went and watched Nash and the Phoenix Suns beat the LA Clippers in a great basketball game with great seats. Goodtimes.
Talk to you all soon,
:-)Willie

After reluctantly putting on my pink soccer jersey Saturday morning, I might have just played my best soccer game yet. I don’t know how our team got stuck with the pink jerseys. I wait until the last moment to put it on and then at the end of the game I quickly switch into a regular t-shirt. Funny, but true, yes I know I am wierd. Hopefully the pink jerseys won’t bother me as much soon. So onto the game…

My teammate took the ball down the right side lines and I was running forward from about the half-line… my teammate put in an early cross that was just in my range and reach and from about 20 to 25 yards out I dove for it! My diving header shot flew swiftly towards the net passed the outstretched goalie into the upper left corner of the net… GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAALLLLL!!!!! It was 1-0.

The other team struck back quick and only about 1 minute later they took their kick off, made a couple of good passes and after a few good bounces and a solid shot they scored. 1-1.

Later, after being robbed by their keeper of a shot that I thought was going in the upper right corner, I managed to break through the defense and score 2 more goals. Hat tricks are nice. My teammate Ignacio Cervantes added a goal and we won 4-1.

It was just one of those games where I was on. My touch was there and it felt good. The league I’m playing in now is not the level of competitive play that I grew up playing on my club teams but with real goals, refs, and uniforms I have a great time playing getting some excersize and putting my 20+ years of soccer training o the test.

I think everyone does everything better when they figure out how to use the Right and Left side of their brain at the same time. I haven’t figured out how to do it consistently yet but instinctively I think we use more of our brain than normal by accident. It’s almost like using the “Force” That’s the best way I can think of to describe it. The old saying “we only use 10% of our brain” is probably pretty true most of the time so if we can all figure out how to tap in to that extra 90% there’s no telling what we might be able to do.

Thanks for checking in, can’t wait to watch the CHARGERS take on the COLTS tonight…
I think the Chargers have a slim chance of pulling it off…we shall see…

Oh yeah, for those of you who know me well,(you know my first band insomnia). We are re-releasing our insomnia album called “BOB” with 15 songs. Funny when it was first released we only had tapes! This will be the first time we can all listen to it on cd…funny. We signed the rights away for 10 years to this woman to try to get a major record deal when we were 17 and that contract has finally expired! We can now make insomnia BOB available on our own terms once again so e-mail me if you’re interested in getting a copy of our first band that we started at the beginning of highschool.

good times.

Saturday November 3rd was another memorable soccer game. Good news and bad news.

Bad news first: I went into the game about 5 minutes late. The other team took it down the right side and I was defending- their forward shot the ball at the goal and as I stretched my leg out to try to block it, the ball took a strange bounce off of a clump of grass hit my foot and deflected right passed our goalie into the net!
OWN GOAL! ouch. I scored in the wrong goal! I had never done that before after playing soccer for well over 20 years! (It was slightly embarrassing but I thought I actually handled it okay considering)

Good News: I scored 2 goals after that (in the right goal this time totally redeeming myself!) thank god. We ended up winning 4 to 1 and I was wondering if I still could legitimately say that I got a hat trick even though one of my three goals was in the wrong one. What do you think?
Thanks for droping me an e-mail sometime to say hi

okay,
time for a recap of the last couple weeks…

so our good friends in the band Musee Mecanique played a private show at our friend Ignacio’s house for about 30 people on Sunday October 21st and it was delightful to say the least- then we all went over to the house at JimsBeachHouse.com in Solana Beach for drinks and catching up. That’s when the fires started approaching. It was really wierd. Watching it on tv and watching the huge clouds of smoke and ash surround our neighborhood was a really strange experience. We had to keep all of the windows and doors closed all day because the smoke outside was unbreathable. We finally packed up all of our valuables into our SUV and took off. After a pit stop at my parents place and Kristen’s parent’s place we decided to get completely clear of all the smoke and headed to my grandparents vacation house in Avalon, California on Catalina Island. It was the perfect getaway. Ruby, our little puppy dog had a great time running around at the park in Catalina. Our good friends Evan & Liz had to postpone their wedding because of the fires so we went straight from Catalina to San Francisco for a weekend of picnics and a wine tasting tour. It was a total blast. We had a great picnic at the famous Dome in San Francisco with about 8 good friends. The next day we visited our friend’s wine vineyards in Napa. It was a great weekend. We came home with plenty of bottles to fill up our lonely wine rack.
good times

If you’re from Oregon
and you donate money
does that make you an Oregon donor?

deep thoughts by Willie Chambers

I’m in San Francisco and I’m off to have an un-wedding wine tasting party in Napa with 10 great friends!

(The air is much more fresh up here in SF than in the blazing So Cal area so it’s good to be here.)

Another soccer game on Saturday and I scored 2 more goals! woo hoo
(we just started our new season and we got new uniforms- they’re pink. hot, loud, bright, in your face pink, I can’t believe it, bummer)

well at least we won.

My good friend Ignacio got a goal too!
Pink Pride.

I justified the horrible pink uniforms by stating that this year “I am playing to help promote breast cancer awareness”

I decided 1 goal was for my Dad’s mom Grammy who passed away from breast cancer
& the other goal was for my Mom’s mom Suzanne who passed away from breast cancer. I knew Grammy until I was 12 and I never met my Mom’s real Mom. Let’s figure out this breast cancer cure already! sound good?!

all the stories I hear about Suzanne are that she was a straight “A” student, president of her UCLA sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma and that she was perfect.

Grammy, who had 11 kids, and who I got to know for 12 years WAS perfect. She was the kindess, gentlest, warm-hearted, generous, loving person around and all of the thousands of people who surrounded that house hold would all tell you the same thing. She definitely had the magic. My grandfather Stan Chambers who was married to Grammy and helped raise their 11 kids still works at KTLA Channel 5 in Los Angeles, CA. On December 11th, 2007 he will have worked at KTLA as a Reporter/Anchor for 60 years! (that’s endurance and in the ever changing fast pace television market, the word incredible is an understatement)

Thanks for checking in and let me know if you can cruise out to the acoustic show I’m playing with Josh Ottum on Friday, October 26th, 2007 at 5:30PM!

(If you wanna try something different today, take 5 minutes and read my new children’s book I wrote that’s coming out next month on amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com – go to williechambers.com and click the star that says “Writing”)
